Practice in the Space Where Your Labor May Begin

Your home offers familiar places to move, rest, and receive support. Together, we’ll explore how you might use your bed, couch, chairs, pillows, and other available supports during labor.

We’ll walk through how your needs might change from early labor through more intense moments, giving your partner opportunities to practice responding with touch, positioning, encouragement, and presence.

Whether you’re planning to give birth at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center, we’ll explore what labor and partner support might look like in your chosen setting. We’ll practice ways to move, rest, and receive comfort at home, along with how to adapt those tools if you continue labor at a hospital or birth center.

Who This Session Is For

Labor & Love welcomes first-time parents, growing families, and anyone who wants their partner or chosen support person to feel more prepared for birth.

It can be especially helpful if you want hands-on practice, individual guidance, or a refresher shaped around what you learned from a previous birth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a complete childbirth education course?

Labor & Love offers focused, practical birth preparation informed by my education and years of experience as a massage therapist and birth doula. We’ll explore how the body changes throughout labor and how movement, positioning, and touch can support comfort and create space as birth progresses.

You’ll learn more than a list of positions or comfort techniques. We’ll practice how to use them thoughtfully, understand when they may be helpful, and adapt them to your body. Your partner will receive hands-on guidance with placement, pressure, and body mechanics so their support feels comfortable and effective.

This session can complement a comprehensive childbirth education course covering medical procedures, interventions, and newborn care in greater depth.

What if we’re planning an epidural?

You’re welcome. We can tailor your session around your plans, including comfort and partner support during early labor and preparation for your hospital experience.

Do we need special equipment?

We’ll work with what you already have at home. Wear comfortable clothing and have a few pillows available. If you own a birth ball or other comfort tools, we can explore those together.

Will we practice breathing or meditation?

Yes. Guided breathing and meditation are foundational parts of Labor & Love. We’ll practice these alongside touch, movement, and positioning to help you build body awareness, find a grounding rhythm, and connect with each other during labor. I’ll guide you through approachable practices adapted to your comfort and experience.
